Jose M. del Alamo

PhD. Jose M. del Alamo (M) is Associate Professor (lecturer) at the Department of ICT Systems Engineering at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (DIT-UPM), where he teaches Software Engineering and Distributed Computing topics at bachelor, postgraduate and doctoral levels. His research focuses on issues related to data protection and trust management and considers these aspects in order to further develop methods and techniques for software and systems engineering. Jose has been UPM's principal investigator of the H2020 TRUESSEC.eu project, participates in the H2020 PDP4E project, has led UPM's participation in the FP7 PRIPARE project and has also been involved in other EU-funded projects such as Omelette (2010-2013) and OPUCE (2006-2009). The results of his research is applied in collaboration with private companies in areas such as telecommunications (Telefonica, Ericsson), banking and financial services (Santander Bank), social networks (Vodafone's OneSocialWeb, Twitter), transport (Transfesa - Deutsche Bahn AG), etc. Jose has authored more than 60 scientific publications and 11 patents in this field granted in the EU, USA, China and Japan. He has been the UPM representative in various working groups of various standardization bodies such as the W3C Privacy Interest Group, the OASIS Privacy Management Reference Model and the OASIS Privacy-by-Design for Software Engineers working groups. He is chairman of the IEEE International Workshop on Privacy Engineering, co-located with the IEEE Symposium on Security & Privacy.
